Lieutenant Chad Gross
Lieutenant Chad Gross started with the Kohler Police Department as a part-time patrol officer in 2000. In August of 2001 he was promoted to a full time patrol officer. In May of 2020 he was promoted to Lieutenant of the department.
In May of 2000, Chad obtained an Associates Degree from the Lakeshore Technical
College in the field of Police Science. After graduation, Chad attended Police Recruit Academy at Lakeshore Technical College. Prior to graduation, Chad became a Certified First Responder.
Currently Chad serves as the Kohler Police Department's Firearms Instructor and Armorer and has held the necessary certifications for over 10 years. He is responsible for conducting department firearms trainings as well as the State of Wisconsin mandated annual firearms qualification. As the department armorer, he's responsible for firearm maintenance and repairs which includes all department issue handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Specifically Chad has received training as an armorer for Colt AR-15 style rifles, Glock handguns, Remington, Mossberg, and Benelli shotguns.
Chad has also been assigned as the department investigator and has been involved in several complex investigations which led to arrest and prosecutions. Additionally he has been assigned to complete background investigations on both prospective interns as well as applicants for police officer positions within the department.
In 2018, he was assigned as a Field Training Officer. He assisted the Primary Field Training Officer with the training of the department's most recently hired officer.
In addition to working for the Kohler Police Department, he's also employed at Lakeshore Technical College working with the Criminal Justice program as a Tactical Assistant Instructor. He also owns On Target Training LLC, a firearms consulting and instructing company.
Chad enjoys attending sporting events of all types and spending time outdoors with his wife and two daughters.
